Corruption charges against Transport Minister Anil Parab
Enforcement Directorate has continued to raid various places in connection with money laundering and corrupt practices. Following raids on residence and business premises connected to former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, raids on agencies connected with another minister Anil Parab and Shiv Sena MP Bhawna Gawli have been conducted.
Frustrated with the action initiated by ED Gawli has alleged that ED is acting under directions of Bharatiya Janata Party, targeting Shiv Sena leaders.
On receiving a notice from ED, Transport Minister Anil Parab also called it a direction for remaining present before the ED, without any charges.
On Monday raids on RTO, Nagpur East, were carried out. Offices connected with Gawli in Washim and Yavatmal, were also raided. Gawli has stated that ED has started enquiry without any notice to her. She is being targeted as she could not be defeated. She was elected for the fifth time from Yavatmal-Washim constituency. She has been engaged in facilitating education for the rural people and has never misused any government fund, she added.
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut has also chided the raids and called it a move by BJP to target Shiv Sena members. BJP leaders at the Centre shifted to action mode following arrest of Union Minister Narayan Rane. The action by ED with specific target started after the Rane’s ‘Jan Ashirwad’ Rally concluded.
BJP is now targeting Parab, Raut has alleged.
After allegations against Anil Deshmukh, charges of money laundering and extortion were also levelled against Parab. The details of the raids conducted in Nagpur, Yavatmal and Washim are awaited.
