As many as 1,27,776 idols of Lord Ganesh were immersed by the citizens in 270 artificial tanks and mobile immersion ponds made by Nagpur Municipal Corporation on Sunday. Some devotees also immersed the idols at their homes.
Dayashankar Tiwari, Mayor, and Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, have expressed their thanks to the citizens for maintaining discipline and following the rules regarding immersion of idols
Nagpur Municipal Corporation had put up a ban on immersion of idols in all the city lakes and erected tin sheds around them, as part of eco-friendly Ganesh festival. It made an arrangement for artificial tanks at the main places for immersion. Moreover, it had also made arrangements of mobile immersion ponds to enable the citizens immerse the idols at their doorsteps.
