The Maharashtra Bandh call given by Maha Vikas Aghadi received poor response in the city. No untoward incident has been reported.
The workers of Shiv Sena, Congress and Nationalist Congress Party had given a call for Maharashtra Bandh to protest alleged suppressive policy of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Government at the Centre. The MVA partner parties had also alleged that BJP has tried to crush farmers staging agitation against the anti-farmer policies. The recent incident at Lakhimpur Khiri is an example, where son of a Union Minister killed agitating farmers.
MVA leaders have also alleged that the BJP-led Government at the Centre is acting against non-BJP ruled states.
The MVA workers staged demonstrations at various squares and requested the shop owners to down their shutters. For some time shops in Panchpaoli, Indora and other areas in North Nagpur remained closed. Major markets elsewhere had no impact of the Bandh. The shops and establishments functioned normally.
The workers of MVA staged demonstrations at major squares including Variety Square, near RSS Headquarters, Reshimbag, Chhatrapati Square, Sakkardara Square, Jaripatka, Kamal Chowk, Indora etc in the morning.
