The possibility of the leopard remaining in the premises of Maintenance Command, Vayusena Nagar, appears to be less on Tuesday. Despite continuous patrolling/monitoring by forestmen for the last two days, no indirect evidence of the presence of carnivore is found. Moreover, four camera traps installed at the strategic points have not captured any photograph of the big cat.
Dr Bharat Singh Hada, Deputy Conservator of Forest, while talking to The Live Nagpur, said that the staff members were monitoring Vayusena Nagar day and night but so far they could not get any direct or indirect evidence. He felt that the leopard must have sneaked from the opening at construction work of compound wall at Gorewada.
Forest Department has kept the staff there to take care of the residents even though there is less possibility of its presence, he added.
Sandip Giri, Assistant Conservator of Forest, said that the monitoring staff had not found presence of the carnivore in the premises but they would continue to do patrolling in night also. There could be a possibility of the leopard leaving the place through the nearby jungle towards Gorewada, he added.
