During the 2019 World Cup, Rohit Sharma’s hilarious response to a Pakistani journalist had the entire room in stitches.
One of the most delightful sights in world cricket right now is watching Rohit Sharma bat. Rohit has established himself as one of the top batsmen in the world in all three formats of the game over the last three years.
Rohit is now a regular member of the Indian team in all three formats, and he has established himself as one of the world’s most dangerous batsmen in both Test and limited-overs cricket.
While his batting has won the hearts of fans, his smart comments also have a lot of admirers. The Mumbai Indians captain is known for delivering interesting statements in news conferences and interviews.
One such instance was during the 2019 World Cup. After India’s clash against Pakistan in Manchester, Rohit came to address the post-match press conference in which his response to a Pakistani journalist went viral across the globe.
The Journalist asked if Rohit had any advice for the Men in Green, who was in the midst of a crisis at the time. To which, Rohit responded. “Agra main Pakistan ka coach bana to bilkul bataunga (If I am appointed as Pakistan’s coach, I would undoubtedly tell them)”.
In that match, Rohit scored a splendid knock of 140 in just 113 balls to help India secure an 89-run victory on the D/L method. Rohit had put on a 136-run opening partnership with KL Rahul and later a 98-run stand with Virat Kohli. Both Kohli and Rahul scored half-centuries in that game.
For Rohit, the 2019 World Cup was a memorable one, as he set a record by scoring five hundred in the tournament. India, on the other hand, experienced heartbreak as they were knocked out in the semi-finals by New Zealand.
When India and Pakistan clash in Dubai on October 24th, Rohit will play Pakistan for the first time since the 2019 match.
