Dayashankar Tiwari, the Mayor, gave instructions to the officers concerned to give momentum to the work of beautification and development of Gandhisagar situated centrally in the city.
He presided over a meeting held in Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall in NMC on Monday to take a review of the development works. Vikas Kumbhare, MLA, Manisha Dhawde, Deputy Mayor, Avinash Thakre, Ruling Party Leader, Jitendra (Bunty) Kukde, Chairman of Transport Committee, Pramod Chikhle, Lata Katgaye, Harshala Sable, all Corporators, Ram Joshi Additional Municipal Commissioner, Ravindra Bhelawe, Manager Transport, Dr Ranjana Laade, Municipal Secretary, Kiran Bagde, Asstt Commissioner, Dr Pranita Umredkar, Project Manager of Nagpur Smart City, Ujjwal Dhanvijay, Dhantoli zone engineer,, Sandip Joshi, Architect, Dhruv Consultancy Services, Srivastava of MSEDCL, and Vinod Pandav of Mother Dairy were present in the meeting.
Tiwari took a review of the difficulties faced during the beautification of Gandhisagar. He asked the officers to shift NMC bus stand, cameras, kiosks and mother dairy at other places by finding a suitable site.
The corporation has received funds from the government for beautification from all sides of the lake. The works include walking track, toilets, drinking water, fountains in the middle of the lake, construction of a building at Bal Bhavan for amusement construction of bridge upto Bhauji Pagey garden, removal of silt, drainage project etc.
A provision has been made for Rs 12 crore by the government and Rs 2.90 crore by Nagpur Municipal Corporation for this historic lake.
