Former Mumbai Commissioner of Police Param Bir Singh is learnt to have arrived in Mumbai from Chandigarh on Thursday morning.
Singh was declared absconding by the court, as his whereabouts were not known since he levelled allegations of extortion against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh..
After eluding several notices and warrants, Singh was declared to be present in Chandigarh. It was also suspected that he has fled the country.
Several summons were pasted on the door of his locked residence in Mumbai. His anticipatory bail application was rejected by the court, for his non-appearance and not cooperating with the investigating agency.
Singh, through a letter to the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, had alleged that Deshmukh has asked suspended police officer Sachin Waze to collect Rs 100 crore per month from restaurants and bars in Mumbai.
