Nagpur Municipal Corporation has started eco-friendly cycle stand in the premises of its Central Officer in Civil Lines on experimental basis to promote using pollution free vehicles. Radhakrishnan B, the Municipal Commissioner, instructed the stand on Friday.
Ram Joshi, Dipak Kumar Meena, both Additional Commissioners, Shrikant Deshpande, Traffic Engineer, Ajay Hadke, Deputy Engineer, Dr Pranita Umredkar of Smart City, Dr Parag Armal, Project Executive, and others were present on the occasion.
At present, parking arrangement is done for two-wheelers and cars anywhere in the city but there is no such arrangement for bi-cycles. The people do not use bi-cycles because of non security to them. However, NMC has started this stand on pilot basis to promote use of green mobility and non-motorised transportation. The benefits of using by-cycles are: free atmosphere from pollution, the healthy users, security to cycles and saving of money on fuel. Such experiment should be followed in government offices, said Radhakrishnan.
The organisers also put up boards giving positive information about the experiment.
