Dr Prashant Bokare has been appointed Vice-Chancellor of Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. The Chancellor of universities in Maharashtra and Governor Bhagatsingh Koshyari has appointed Dr Bokare as new VC of the Gondwana University on Wednesday.
Dr Bokare will take over from officiating VC Dr Shrinivasa Varakhedi, VC of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Ramtek. The post was being held by Dr Varakhedi, after the term of Dr Namdeo Kalyankar ended on September 7, 2020.
Dr Bokare is Professor and Dean at O P Jindal University’s School of Engineering in Raigad, Chhattisgarh.
Dr Bokare will hold the position for a term of five years.
Born on November 23, 1963 he completed his engineering degree from Walchand Engineering College, Sangli and post-graduation (ME) from VRCE (now VNIT), Nagpur. He later obtained PhD from IIT, Guwahati. Dr Bokare was Professor and Dean at Bapurao Deshmukh Engineering College, Sewagram, Wardha and later joined as principal of RSR Rungta College of Engineering and Technology.
