The test for Nagpur Metro Rail, Reach-IV was conducted on Friday. The reach-IV will connect areas adjoining Central Avenue to Sitabuldi.
With this the Nagpur Metro has completed Reach-II from Sitabuldi Interchange to Automotive Square and Reach-IV from Sitabuldi to Prajapati Nagar, totalling a span of 12 kms. The technical work of this route has ben completed. The meto train passes through four layered traffic zone near Anand Cinema and near Gurudwara on Kamptee road. This kind of systm is first in the country.
The Metro train will have four stations on Central Avenue, from Cotton Market, Railway Station, Dosar Vaishya Chowk, Ambedkar Chowk, Vaishnodevo Chowk and Prajapati Nagar.
The train is expected to begin in the New Year. The trial run will be held soon. Completing the work was challenging, as 231 balanced cantilever between Sitabuldi and Anand Talkies patch was laid, which the only attempt in the state. Crossing main railway line was also a challenging job.
During construction work on Central Avenue, road traffic on both sides was not affected. Construction of Prajapati Nagar Station was also a difficult an complicated task. The pillars of flyover were used for construction of Metro Rail crossing. The work on Pardi Naka square, which experiences very heavy traffic was also challenging, as the road connects Kalamna Market.
