Akhil Bharatiya Adivasi Gowari Shakti Sangh has organised Vidrbha-level rally of aggrieved Gowari community members on December 26 at Daulat Celebration Lawn, near Passport Office, New Mankapur, Ring Road, at 12 noon.
Noted leader Adv Balasaheb Ambedkar will be the chief guest of the rally that will mainly highlight long-pending demands of Gowaris, including Schedule Tribes status to them.
Addressing a press conference at Tilak Patrakar Bhavan here on Friday, Bhagwan Bhonde, District President of the sangh, said that the Congress and BJP governments used the community members politically but failed to do anything for them that would provide relief to them. He also recalled deaths of 114 Gowari community members on November 23, 1994 at Morris College T-point, who had taken a massive morcha to press their demands. Despite 27 years of these Gowaris becoming martyrs, the government has not done anything for them, he added.
Arvind Sandekar, Ramesh Gajbhe, Ravibhau Shende, Laxman Bagde, Suresh Neware, Ankush Mohile and others were present in the press conference.
