Lackadaisical attitude of animal lovers, NMC frustrates Mousumi

‘Adopt stray dogs’ widely projected by an animal lover NGO or Civic authority’s separate department to handle stray animals, appeared to a projection only on paper. This is the impression of Mousumi Pramanik, a resident of Zingabai Takli.

After failing to get any response from various agencies, she approached The Live Nagpur to express her anger and to share her experience.

Mousumi Pramanik, a resident of Flower 1 apartment, Ganpati Nagar, near Mahalaxmi lawns Zingabai Takli 440030 recently posted a story on social media about the dog and his distress.

While talking to The Live Nagpur Pramanik said “as soon as we saw this distressed dog we tried to help it and also contacted veterinary doctors”.

“One of the NGO volunteers inspected the dog and informed us that the animal is suffering from distemper disease and will not survive even if it gets treatment and needs to be euthanized to put an end to the suffering” she informed.

Mousumi added that “Since it is a highly contagious disease no one came forward to help. We contacted many private veterinary doctors but did not receive any positive response.”

With the help of our neighbour we contacted Nagpur Municipal Corporation only to hear a negative response. An NMC employee said that the area is far and they do not have a proper vehicle and facility to take the dog away, Mousumi stated.

“When contacted the Government Veterinary Hospital, the person there stated that they do not euthanize animals and cannot help us,” she said.

In a post the lady noted that “Being soft hearted and humane nowadays is the worst thing rather it’s a curse. From yesterday I have posted contacted so many NGOs, NMC private doctors for help but I think all in the name of animal welfare is only concerned about self welfare business.”

“Someone left this dog in bad condition in front of my apartment …the poor baby is continuously crying unable to walk, hardly eating anything…after trying so many times came to know from one of the person whom i approached for help that too after almost 24 hrs that the poor soul is suffering from distemper disease n will not survive even if it gets treatment n ultimately it has to be euthinise to put an end to the sufferings and keep other stray dogs safe since the disease is highly infections,” the post reads.
