NMC has started taking stern action against the shops using plastic/carry bags in the city. It has come to notice that despite ban on use of the plastic bags by Maharashtra Government, many shop owners are using them.
Therefore, Radhakrishnan B Municipal Corporation, has instructed Nuisance Detection Squad (NDS) to intensify the campaign to examine the shops/establishments/vegetable vendors in markets and if found defying the rule take action and recover fine.
In Dharampeth Zone, the squad checked Choudhary Lifestyle on Wednesday and charged Rs 5,000/- for flouting the rules. It also recovered the same fine from Bandu Patraval Shop in Cotton Market.
The squad will now check the shops/establishments daily. The squad members recovered a fine of Rs 15,000/- from KRC Lawns on Gorewada Ring Road foru violating covid-19 rules and also recovered a fine of Rs 55,000/- from six establishments.
Moreover, the squad seized 50 plastic kites from Sachin Patang Bhandara in Dharampeth Zone and recovered a fine of Rs 2,000/- and also checked other 50 such shops.
The action was taken under the leadership of Veersen Tambe, Chief of NDS.
