Avinash Thakre, President of Stationery Scam Enquiry Committee, has directed Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, to write a letter to the Commissioner of Police for conducting probe not only in the stationery scam in Health Department but also in financial irregularities in other departments of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
He said that Sadar Police were conducting enquiry into the stationery scam and corrupt system in GAD and Finance Department. However, there could be possibility of irregularities in other departments also hence enquiry be conducted in the affairs, Thakre pointed out.
He mentioned that the enquiry committee would also submit a letter to the CP for conducting probe in all the department. He said this while addressing a meeting of the committee held here on Monday in Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall to discuss way of functioning.
Tanaji Wanve, Adv Sanjay Balpande, Sandip Jadhav, Vaishali Narnaware, all members of the committee, Dr Ranjana Lad, Municipal Secretary, Prakash Barde, Asstt Accounts Officer, and others were present.
Thakre said the police were conducting enquiry into the stationery scam as chief of the Health Department complained about it. A doubt about financial irregularities was expressed by the office-bearers and corporators in a meeting held on December 31, 2021. Therefore, enquiry be conducted in other departments.
This was the first meeting of the enquiry committee. It also discussed about nominating two more members on the committee, including one retired Justice and retd Finance & Accounts Officer. The responsibility for maintaining papers in confidential way has been given to Nirbhay Jain, Deputy Municipal Commissioner.
