Maharajbag zoo has been re-opened from Wednesday for citizens and tourists, following relaxation order issued by the district administration.
The zoo was kept closed from January 16 following surge in the omicron/Covid-19 cases. The administration issued order on Tuesday saying that all tourist sports that are ticketed to remain open as per the regular timings with online ticketing. All visitors should be necessarily fully vaccinated and that they have to follow the protocol such as wearing masks, using sanitizers and keeping safe distance etc to avoid spread of the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, wild animals and birds in the zoo suffered a ‘pinch’ period during the last three weeks because of closure of the zoo. Now, they will get relief as the management will start getting revenue by way selling tickets to visitors. The zoo is maintained mainly on the income receiving from the sale of tickets.
