A public hearing was held on Monday in Chhatrapati Shivaji Hall in Collectorate in which hearing was made on 109 objections/suggestions out of a total of 132 cases received.
The draft Prabhag system for forthcoming elections to Nagpur Municipal Corporation was declared on February 1. After, NMC received in all 132 objections/suggestions. B Venugopal Reddy, Principal Secretary, forest, who was appointed by the State Election Commission for the public hearing, heard the cases.
Prajakta Lawangare-Verma, Divisional Commissioner, R Vimla, District Collector, Radhakrishnan B, Municipal Commissioner, Ram Joshi, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Avinash Sanas, Deputy Commissioner of the Commission, Nirbhay Jain, Deputy Commissioner, Mahesh Dhamecha, Asstt Commissioner (GAD), and officers from Election Department were present.
The public hearing started at 12 noon that continued till 6.30 pm. The hearing was held by showing prabhag system on screen, boundaries and other information. Corporators, social workers and persons who objected or made suggestions were present.
The 132 objections/suggestions include: 99 about prabhag boundaries, 19 on reservation, 9 on names of baastis and 5 others. The maps for 52 prabhag for 156 corporators were displayed. Each prabhag consists of three corporator’s.
