On the occasion of International Ladies’s Day on Tuesday, three women from Maharashtra are among the 28 women who will receive the Nari Shakti award. The awards honour outstanding achievements by women in a variety of fields.
The winners of ‘Nari Shakti Award’ were announced by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare. The winners from Maharashtra include Kathak dancer Sayali Agavane who suffers from Down’s Syndrome, first female serpent friend Vinita Borade for the year 2020 and social entrepreneur Kamal Kumbhar for the year 2021. The award will be presented by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday, international women’s day.
The event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister for Women and Child Welfare Smriti Irani and other senior officials.
The award is given in recognition of outstanding work done by individuals and organizations.
