·     Relief to citizens as no raise in taxes proposed
A budget of Nagpur Municipal Corporation with expected income of Rs 2684 crore and expenditure of Rs 2669 for the year 2022-23 was presented by Radhakrishnan B, Administrator and Municipal Commissioner at a function held in Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj New Administrative Building here on Wednesday.
The budget provides relief to the common man as there is no raise in the taxes. The budget focuses on developmental projects to provide better facilities in health, road, water supply, solid waste management, education, street lights and other fields. Moreover, the corporation would also concentre on completing ongoing projects in the city.
Radhakrishnan mentioned that special attention would be given to immediate utility and need of the works while making planning. Priority would be given to important and needy projects. The revenue expenditure is expected at Rs 1518 crore and capital expenditure is at Rs 1000 crore in the budget. A provision for higher capital expenditure is made than the total revenue expenditure together by Public Works Department, Fire Brigade, Health Department, Power, Solid Waste Management, IT, Engineering Department. Moreover, a provisions of Rs 5 crore and Rs 1 crore is made for redressal of people’s complaints and development of markets on BOT basis.
The corporation expected a revenue of Rs 195 crore from Water Works Department in the revised annual budget for 2021-22. However, it earned a revenue of Rs 170 crore while NMC is expecting a revenue of Rs 200 crore from the water tax during 2022-23.
There are also various new schemes in different fields to provide facilities to the citizens.
