The 101 st Foundation Day of Matru Sewa Sangh, Sitabuldi was celebrated recently. R Vimala, District Collector was the chief guest. Noted social worker Leelatai Chitale presided.
Dr Lata Deshmukh, Secretary, Matru Sewa Sangh, Sitabuldi felicitated the guests by offering a shawl, Shreefal and a memento of the centenary festival.
Dr Deshmukh gave information about how the seed of the Sitabuldi Maternity Hospital which was sown in 1921 has today now blossomed in 12 branches and has extended its services in 14 different projects.
A letter of appreciation was handed over by R Vimala to congratulate the doctors, nurses and other staff who have faithfully served to Covid Warriors during the Covid pandemic. The Covid warriors include Dr Ujwal Parikh, Dr Kamini Nakade, Dr Amee Rahatekar, Dr Reshma Giripunje, Dr Rishi Lodaya, Dr Trupti Parikh, Dr Preeti Patel; nurses Shoily Bhadra, Bharti Dhotre, Preeti Vaidya, Anamika Ganvir, Sharda Manchalwar, Yogita Game, Sunita Patil, Kanchan Talhar, Shobha Zade and attendants Mona Nakwal, Savita Nagdavane, Bela Khobragade.
The dignitaries of Nagpur metropolis who took time out from their busy schedule and gave their full support to various activities and projects of Matru Sewa Sangh and introduced their selfless, impartial attitude were also honoured. They include Dr Uday Mahorkar, Dr Shailendra Mundhada, Dr Sushrut Babhulkar, C.A. Aniruddha Shenwai, Dr Ujwal Parikh, Shiv Rao. As every year, various awards were given to those nurses as well as the students enrolled in nursing course.
A collection of various events of the centenary year was compiled in a book on this occasion. Also, the documentary part-II of Matru Sewa Sangh was released at the hands of the distinguished guests.
R Vimala said, “Matru Sewa Sangh, plays a leading role in women’s empowerment and is a role model for the next generation for their meaningful contribution to the societyâ€. She further stated that she is ready to offer help to the organization should the need arise. This organisation is the pride and glory of Nagpur.
Chitale described the honesty, integrity, hard work with compassion and dedication and a serving heart and soul of the revered Kamalatai Hospet for the Matru Sewa Sangh and asserted that this serving attitude should be instilled in everyone.
Mamta Chinchwadkar, Joint Secretary, Matru Sewa Sangh, Sitabuldi proposed a vote of thanks. Yashashree Wagh conducted the proceedings. The programme concluded with Pasayadan recited by Swapna Kulkarni.
