Zilla Parishad will provide the facility of small malls and outlets on district and taluka levels to sell household products, handicraft and other items prepared by Self-Help Groups and other rural women, announced Sunil Kedar, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development here on Saturday.
He was speaking at Saras and women mela organised at Sports Stadum at Mankapur during his visit today. He said that around 12,000 women visited mela yesterday and they have given us a responsibility of strengthening rural economy. Sunanda Pawar had started the experiment in Baramati and now a background is prepared to implement it in Nagpur rural areas, he pointed out.
“We will have to prepare a system that would provide them scope to display their talent and skills.†Therefore, the zilla parishad having lands at important places should be utilised for developing small malls and outlets to sell the products prepared by women so that they could earn their livelihood.
Yogesh Kumbhejkar, Chief Executive Officer, Nagpur ZP, informed that a transaction of Rs 17 lakh was done on the very first day of the mela yesterday by selling products.
Rashmi Barve, President of Nagpur ZP, and others welcomed Kedar.
