The CENSPORTS, the annual Inter-School sports meet hosted by Centre Point School (CPS), Amravati Road Bypass, commenced on the school premises with a grand inaugural on the 29th of July 2022.
Basketball and Futsal tournaments, Swimming and Gymnastics competitions will be played under one roof at the host school for three days. The CENSPORTS united more than 1000 sports enthusiasts and their mentors from over 60 schools in and around the city, and gave them an opportunity to showcase their talent and hone their skills.
In an era of high academic competition, the CENSPORTS encourages sports at the local level. Discipline, good health, teamwork, designing strategies and better reflexes are a few among the many benefits that one gains from sports.
At Centre Point, equal emphasis is laid on academics and sports, and CENSPORTS acts as a medium of making this ideology contagious.
The Chief Guest, Piyush Ambulkar, the Sports and Cultural Officer of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation inaugurated the event by releasing the balloons with the School mascot Censhine and announced the meet open. He is an international level Softball player and the recipient of the prestigous Shiv Chhatrapati Award.
The dignitaries present at the inaugural function included Mukta Chatterjee Ma’am, Academic Coordinator, Centre Point School International, Ashlesha Chitnavis, Head of the Sports Department, Centre Point School, Katol Road Mangesh Pandit and the Principal of Centre Point School, Amravati Road Bypass, Perveen Cassad Ma’am and Vice-Principal, of Centre Point School, Amravati Road Bypass, Bhakti Bobde Ma’am.
The young sportspersons of CPS, AB Jessica Francis and Shifa Khan took the oath. Both ace players have to their credit, achievements at the international, national, state, district and inter-school levels as well.
The participants were treated with a motivational song and an energizing performance by the school band to elevate their spirits and recharge their energy levels for the upcoming sporting events.
Futsal, Basketball and Swimming events were conducted on the first day.
