Kala DARSHAN exhibition concluded at Chitanvis Centre. Organizers ‘josh‘ rose high because of more than expected footfall of visitors. Paintings and Sculptures of 40 handpicked artists were exhibited and live demonstrations of different fine arts were arranged every day. This three-day event was enriched by the presence of the painters whose works were exhibited. The motto was to let each artist narrate the story behind his creation, says Chandramani Besekar, the Director of the organizing institution, Lord Foundation of Fine Arts. The exhibition was inaugurated on 13th Sep in the august presence of the Director of Cultural Centre for Resources & Training (CCRT), New Delhi, Rishi Kumar Vashishtha. Eminent artists Tuka Jadhav and Harihar Pande were the guests of honor. Prof. Pramod Babu Ramteke and Prof. Kashinath Salve were the Invitee Masters.
On being asked about the monetary response, Besekar candidly accepts that Nagpur still has a long mile to go in art appreciation. Nagpurkars have the taste for good art but its availability at Nagpur was poorly informed and this is where his ‘no profit no loss’ foundation comes in to provide a platform to opportunity-deprived artists. Niranjan Gohane, a participating painter from Nagpur grieves about poor opportunities at Nagpur for those who wish to be full-time painters. Being an IT Professional, Gohane started his own website to overcome the locational disadvantage. But not every artist is such tech savvy and that’s why platforms like this exhibition are a must, at least for hinterlands like Vidarbha, other painters feel. Besekar said the entire exhibition cost was borne from the funds doled by his friends. Suresh Moon, the CMD, and Rajiv Gaikwad, the Director of Lord Foundation of Fine Arts are the people whose efforts made this possible.
Bijay Bilal demonstrated the live landscape water colour painting on the opening day of the exhibition. On the second day, Rajiv Gaikwad, Sanjay More, and Umesh Charole demonstrated Caricature and Cartooning. Kunal Ukey shown a demo of Pottery on closing day. The closing ceremony ended with a vote of thanks by organizing body members and the artists present at the ceremony.
