Directorate of Industries conducted a two-day event on “District Conclave on Investment Promotion, Ease of Doing Business, Export & One District One product” on 23-24 September 2022 at VIA Hall, Civil Lines, Nagpur. The aim of the conclave was to understand the issues pertaining to exports faced by exporters and to encourage exporters and upcoming exporters for better and higher export performance in the future. The participants were exporters from Nagpur Region, Industrialists from different sectors, state government officials, Central Government officials, MSMEs, etc.
Chief Guest Divisional Commissioner, Nagpur Smt Vijayalakshmi Bidari (IAS); Joint Commissioner Customs Shri Prashant Patil (IRS); Joint Director of Industries Nagpur Region Shri Gajendra Bharati; Ex President VED Shri Shivkumar Rao, President of VIA Shri Vishal Agrawal; SIDBI AGM Shri Santosh Rao More and other were among the prominent persons who shared the dais. District agriculture Officer Shri Shende, General Manager DIC Shri Muddamwar, Capt Randhir President MIDC Hingna Association, & members of prominent industrial associations were present.
Divisional Commissioner Smt Vijayalakshmi Bidari while expressing her views in the conclave, Nagpur have huge potential for export. Presently Rice, Cotton, Engineering products are being exported from Nagpur this reach has to be increased by exporting variety of products from the district. She also assured that she will definitely follow for getting essential infrastructure for export promotion further she said that the region will have Assistant Drug Commissioner Office in the Nagpur district to avoid hurdle in getting NOC for Pharmaceuticals. She also informed that Nagpur region is at present only contributing 3%, however the region can improve the exports and soon the region export contribution will be in double digit.
In the opening remark Shri Gajendra Bharati, Joint Director Industries, Nagpur region informed that the Nagpur region total exports in FY 2021-22 was INR 14,570 crore, which contributing to 2.67% to the total State exports. In that Nagpur district itself contributing 76% of the total export from Nagpur region and other districts from the region are not contributing much even after presence of resources. He further informed that the distance between the region and nearest port is about 900 kms which makes Vidarbha manufacturers and exporters logistically uncompetitive.
Mr. Shivkumar Rao, Ex-President of VED highlighted the issues pertaining to exports. He mentioned that Nagpur region can be developed as Agro Hub, Engineering Hub and Textile Hub, but the region is failed in getting recognition. Being a landlock area and away from ports, the region is lagging behind in cost competitiveness in international market. Shri. Saurabh Joshi, EEPC made a presentation in Export opportunities in Engineering sector and support for export promotion by EEPC. CA Varun Vijaywargi made a presentation on Government of India’s Export Schemes, Procedure, norms, incentives, etc. Further, MIHAN CONCOR Chief Manager Shri Santosh Kumar Singh gave a presentation on Logistics Infrastructure for Export/Import Trade at Nagpur; MAITRI Nodal Officer Shri S L Kumbhalwar gave presentation in Ease of Doing Business and SIDBI Ms. Priyanka Shinde gave presentation on SIDBI schemes for MSME & Exporters.
Bajaj Steel Industries Shri M K Sharma and Universe Exports (Orange Exporter) shared their experience of exports from the district followed by a panel discussion with exporters on Agriculture and Allied products, Engineering, Textiles, etc.
Exhibition of different products manufactured in the district is also exhibited in the premises of Udyog bhavan Civil lines for 23 & 24 the Sep. The total number of 18 stall are exhibited in the exhibition from industries like Engineering, Food processing, Textile, Garments, artisan products etc.
Prominently present were Kaushal Mohta, Chairman VIA EXIM Forum, VIA Members – O S Bagdia, Nitin Agrawal, exporters and industrialists of the region.
