This year, the 66th Dhammachakra Pravartan Din will be celebrated with great zeal at Deekshabhoomi. Given the large number of people who visited Deekshabhoomi between October 3 and 6, the district administration held another review meeting on Wednesday.
The celebrations assume significance as they are being held on a grand scale after COVID-19 pandemic..
Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti has appealed to the followers to participate in the celebrations enthusiastically this year. District Collector Dr Bipin Itankar chaired the meeting. Sudhir Fulzele, Secretary of Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti, Member Vilas Gajghate was joined by DCP Basawraj Teli, Additional Commissioner (NMC) Ram Joshi, Resident Deputy Collector Vijaya Bankar, heads of various departments, and members of Deekshabhoomi Smarak Samiti.
The Collector inspected various amenities including water supply, health system, book stalls, immediate shelter, exit routes etc. The Collector also inspected entire Deekshabhoomi premise.
Dr. Itankar directed the officers in charge to keep a close eye on the drinking water and food being provided and prepared around his toric place. Orders were also issued for the distribution system, cleanliness, toilet availability, and other amenities.
