The leopard was rescued by the Nanded Forest Division from Himayat Nagar. Leopard was under the jurisdiction of Keshav Wable, Deputy Conservation of Forest.
Leopard belongs to SC-1 and hence needed formalities to be done. Atim Katti, Honorary Wildlife Warden took care of the legalities.
The leopard was admitted to Treatment Transit Centre at 12:00-12:30 am. Commuting was rigorous for the animal and hence had to be kept in isolation for the night.
The next morning, the leopard was taken to the Gorewada rescue center for a Radiography examination. The young leopard of 12-14 months was hit very badly by a speeding vehicle which led to serious injuries: Right femoral neck fracture, right acetabular fracture, right midshaft ileum fracture, and fracture of T12 and T13 ribs on the right side. The injuries were detected in a Radiographic examination by Dr. S V Upadhye, Dr. Sujit Kolangat, and Dr. Sudarshan Kakde.
Treatment of the leopard is ongoing at the TTC, Nagpur, where the doctors have advised that the movement of the leopard should be minimal.
Further treatment of the leopard will be taken care by the team of doctors including Dr. Harshita Raghav and Pankaj Thorat and Shidhant More.
