Nine persons have been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and anti-corruption branch (ACB) for joining as employees of the Income Tax (IT) department by allegedly engaging dummy candidates to write the mandatory recruitment test on their behalf. This fact came into the limelight after the investigation carried out by the Central Bureau Of Investigation.
Examination papers and other documents of the candidates containing their handwriting, signatures, and thumb impressions are sent for forensic analysis. Further, the forensic analysis showed that out of the 12, nine candidates had actually not shown up for the examination. Instead, dummy candidates appeared for their examination.
The accused IT candidates were arrested and presented in the local court. Custody has been given to the CBI till December 16, 2022. The investigation was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General, Salim Khan, (CBI- Nagpur).
