Narcotics are in higher demand, notably at Innovative Year’s Eve celebrations, so vendors are coming up with new strategies to avoid the cops. The reports claim that the peddlers are disguising themselves as delivery partners of well-known food delivery services so they can freely travel the city.
The smugglers’ tactic appears to be succeeding. Despite the police busting multiple rackets, mephedrone (MD) drugs are still readily available across Nagpur City. Nowadays, drug dealers prefer to transport their wares to customers through “carriers” that pose as online meal delivery companies.
Police rarely stop people wearing uniforms from food delivery services to conduct inspections. They conceal their faces with helmets and transport narcotic sachets in large grocery bags. Additionally, it has come to light that drug dealers have begun transporting MD shipments into the city via Amravati.
MD had previously been transported from Mumbai to the city. Peddlers once took trains to get about. They eventually switched to road haulage after the police began apprehending them. Later, while police were keeping a close eye on buses and private vehicles, they apprehended numerous peddlers. The insider claimed that the drugs are not directly transported into the city.
According to the source, Tajbagh has become a hub for smugglers, and MD is the most sought-after narcotic in the country.
In the city, localities like Wardhaman Nagar, Chhapru Nagar, Jaripatka, Hansapuri, Jaffar Nagar, Mominpura, Dharampeth, and Friends Colony have extremely high MD consumption. On the other side, ganja is quite affordable compared to MD and is well-liked by low-income populations.
