Former Maharashtra minister Anil Deshmukh has appealed to Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to stop auction of agricultural land of farmers for non-repayment of loans.
The Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank has started the auction for recovery of loans. Besides the bank also publicly displayed the names of the farmers, who could not repay the loan.
The farmers could not repay the loans for several reasons beyond their control, including crop failure due to vagaries of nature and damage caused by wild animals.
Through a letter written to Fadnavis, Deshmukh has demanded that the auction of land by NDCCB should be stopped immediately.
