Maharashtra Governor Ramesh Bais paid visit to Deeksbahoomi in Nagpur on Thursday morning. Bais arrived in Nagpur for the first time after taking iover as Governor of Maharashtra. He is in Nagpur to attend the 110th Convocation of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University on Thursday.
Deekshaboomi is a place where Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, along with lakhs of his followers from Dalit communities, embraced Buddhism in 1956 in Nagpur. The place has been developed as Deekshabhoomi by constructing a beautiful memorial..
Bais prayed homage to Dr Ambedkar at the memorial. Coincidentally Friday is the birth anniversary of Dr Ambedkar. The memorial has been beautifully decorated to mark the occasion.
Bais offered Buddha Vandana at the place in presence of President of Dr Ambedkar Memorial Trust Committee Bhante Shurei Sasai, Secretary Dr Sudhir Fulzele and members Dr Pradeep Aglave, Vilas Gajbghate, and others. Bais was offered a shawl, a memento and a floral bouquet.
