Brijesh Dixit handed over charge of MD of MahaMetro to principal secretary Nitin Karir. Dr. Dixit held the post of Managing Director of Maha Metro for 8 years. He implemented phase-1 and phase-2 of Nagpur Metro. Dixit headed Maha Metro since 2014. He started the work of Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Limited which was later renamed as Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited or Maha Metro. Under his leadership, Maha Metro started work on the Pune Metro project.
In September 2017, Maha Metro set a record by completing a trial run of over 5.17 km in just 30 months. The trial run and work on the Orange Line between Sitabuldi Interchange and Khapari Metro Station was completed in a very short time and the passenger service was inaugurated on 7 March 2019. After just one year, on 28 January 2020, passenger services on the Aqua Line between Lokmanya Nagar and Sitabuldi Interchange were started. 11 December 2022 is an important day for Nagpur Metro Prime Minister inaugurated Phase-1 and laid the foundation stone of Phase-2 and on March 6, 2022 a line of the Pune Metro Rail Project was started! Nagpur Metro completed the construction work in record time during Covid period.
One of the unique projects is the 4-level transport system on Kamptee Marg being implemented by Nagpur Metro. In the implementation of Y-shape flyover and new Lohapul RUB projects, Dr. Dixit played an important role. Nagpur Metro was named in the Guinness World Records for the longest multi-layer via-duct in a metro category. Maha Metro has achieved Asia Book of Records in 5 different categories.
