Kushagra Paliwal in Open Group and Aparnita Jagtap in Girls Group Annexed the Title of the Nagpur District Under-19 Open and Girls Chess Championship whereas Arnav Kunchalwar in Open Group and Swara Borkhade in Girls Group emerged triumphant Nagpur District Under-7 Open and Girls Chess Championship organized by Chess Association Nagpur in association with G.H.Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation and Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway, Near Kasturchand Park, Nagpur on 9th July 2023.
In the Under-19 open group, Kushagra Paliwal scored all five points out of 5 rounds to remain unbeaten at the Top. Rudraksh Borkar and Aarit Thakur both scored 4 points and were adjudged second and third in the merit list based on their tie break score. Anshul Mahant scored 3.5 points to grab the fourth position.
In the Girls Under-19 Group, Aparnita Jagtap and Shanaya drew their last round game to score 4 point, however based on the tie break score Aparnita was declared winner and Shanaya got runner up position. Aashi Dalal also scored 4 point but was placed third based on her tie break score. Krishnai Taori scored 3.5 point to take 4th position.
In the Under-7 open group, Arnav Kunchalwar and Durvank Dhoke scored 4.5 point but Arnav with better tie break score clinched the title. In the Girls Under -7 Group, Swara Borkhade remained unbeaten scoring all 5 points out of five to win the title. Anaaya Sabu and Lavanya Mahadik scored 3.5 points however, based on tie break score, they were placed 2nd and third respectively.
Kushgra Paliwal, Rudraksh Borkar, Aarit Thakur, Anshul Mahant in Open Under-19 Group and Aparnita Jagtap, Shanaya Shelkar, Aashi Dalal and Krishnai Taori shall represent Nagpur District in the Maharashtra Under-19 Chess Championship to be held later this year. In the Under-7 category, Arnav Kunchalwar, Durvank Dhoke in Open Group and Swara Borkhade and Anaaya Sabu in Girls group shall represent Nagpur District.
Prizes were distributed at the hands of Chief Guest CA Sanjay Agrawal, Chairman of ICAI, Nagpur Chapter. CA Saket Bagadia, Past President of ICAI Nagpur and Shri. S.S.Soman, MCA Observer Committee Member were present on the occasion. The Trophies and Medals were given to the Top 10 winners in each group.
FA Shiva Iyer, Chief Arbiter successfully conducted the event who was assisted by SNA Prayas Ambade and Prathamesh Machave.
