Pola festival has a great significance among Marathi culture. On this auspicious day, people worship cattles especially bulls who has a big contribution in farming activities. In Maharastra pola celebrated with great enthusiasm. It is the day when farmers seek blessings for a bountiful harvest.
Pola was celebrated with enthusiasm at Pardi Chowk in Nagpur. Pola has been celebrated here for the last 155 years.
Amid the high rises locality and flyover, it was the rural and rustic which took over for while. Dressed in their festival best, a couple of hundred men, women and children gathered to celebrate pola.
Pairs of bullocks dressed to the hilt showed off their finery to admiring crowds. Their bodies massaged with oil, turmeric faces painted in
pink colour and tiny bells tinkling around their legs, the
Bullocks presented a picture pretty sight.
