One of the two private companies in charge of door-to-door garbage collection, M/sAGEnviro Infra, has received a notice from NAGPUR Municipal Corporation (NMC) for breaching the agreement. It was served with the notice on Wednesday, and it has seven days to provide an explanation.
On the advice of Additional Commissioner Aanchal Goyal and Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Choudhary, the notice was sent out. M/s A G Enviro Infra Private Limited Company has been in charge of gathering and transporting classified household waste in five NMC zones—Laxmi Nagar, Dharampeth, Hanuman Nagar, Dhantoli, and Nehru Nagar—for the past five years. In accordance with the agreement, the agency was to pick up the household classified waste and deliver it to the Bhandewadi Dumping Yard for additional processing. They also need to drive the dead animals to Bhandewadi in different cars after they have been picked up.
NMC officials made a surprise check and found that the agency’s vehicle after arrival at Bhandewadi had soil mixed with the garbage. Similarly other guidelines were also noticed to be violated by the agency. Previous to this, the agency was fined Rs 27 lakh for removing waste along with soil.
When it was discovered that the agency had repeatedly broken the rules, NMC questioned the former in its showcause why the agreement shouldn’t be terminated. The agency has been advised by the Additional Commissioner that if the explanation is not received within the allotted time, severe measures will be implemented.
