Interested in joining Indian Army and serve the nation
Kite flying is not only a sport for Amit Ukey, a 17-year old youth of Gawlipura, Hazari Pahad area of Nagpur. He has been making kites himself, but with some message.
Talking to The Live Nagpur Amit said that projecting social messages through kites started about four years back. This year he made a kite of 12 feet and used it during the Makar Sankranti festival. He wish to dedicate the kite to Lord Ram on January 22, the day on which consecration of Ramlalla will be performed in Ayodhya.
Amit said that he has made kites of different sizes to project messages. Last year a huge kite was made projecting Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Using the tone of the nation this year the 12-feet kite is dedicated to Lord Ram. He said that he is helped by his friend Rohit Shiurkar in making the kites.
Despite getting orders for making kites, Amit has not indulged in commercialising his hobby.
Deeply interested in joining the Indian Army, he is preparing for competitive examinations. Amit is a first-year BA student of Tidke Mahavidyalaya. He lost his father while his mother and elder brother work to earn the livelihood for the family. His mother is a tailor and his brother ITI is a certified electrician.
Besides making kites as a hobby and spreading social messages, Amit is seeking help from experts so that he can enter the Indian Army and serve the nation
