In preparation for the construction of a state-of-the-art G+9 building, the demolition of the current Ajni railway station building is scheduled to begin on February 15. Additionally, a 20-meter section of the Ajni Metro station building will also be demolished.
Temporary construction has been completed for the ticket counter and other station offices adjacent to the RPF police station. Meanwhile, the construction of the new building for Ajni station is set to commence at the end of the upcoming month.
At present, the ground floor of the second terminal building on the west side has been finished. The construction of piles for the foot-over bridge is presently in progress It will be built as a G+3 building for the time being, but will eventually become a G+9 building.
The development of a sub-power station is also underway on campus. At present, Ajni station has three platforms. Apart from it, four other platforms will be developed. With the completion of the buildings on both sides, the station’s passenger handling capacity will be increased to 44,000 per day.
The construction on the redevelopment of Ajni station began in 2023 and is scheduled to be finished by May 2025.
