The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court on Wednesday asked what measures the Irrigation Department will take to save Nagpur from floods in the future. Court also directed to submit detailed information on this in the next three weeks.
Due to heavy rains in September-2023, the water of Ambazari lake entered various settlements causing havoc. As a result, Ramgopal Bachuka and others filed a Public Interest Litigation in the High Court and made various demands. The petition was heard before Justice Nitin Sambre and Abhay Mantri. Meanwhile, the petitioner’s lawyer Adv. Tushar Mandlekar pointed out that the information about the measures to be taken to save Nagpur from floods in the future has not yet been brought on the court record. Considering this matter, the court gave the above directions.
