The special squad of DCP Zone 5 Niketan Kadam raided an online gambling den running under the guise of a lottery center in Kapilnagar police station area. 9 gamblers were caught gambling and goods worth Rs 1.45 lakh were seized from them. Rajesh Nandanwar, resident of Manewada, who runs gambling, is said to be absconding.
The arrested accused has been identified as Rakesh Ramvriksh Rawat (47), resident of Agrasennagar, Bhilgaon, Akash Prakash Naranvare (37), resident of Yashodharnagar, Rakesh Devanand Dongre (28), resident of Bhimwada slum, Suresh Dhoranlal Neware (38), resident of Maninagar slum, Kamathi Road, Anil resident of Majri. Ramesh Shirsikar (32), Rajesh Eknath Pakhidde (51), resident of Ramanagar, Kamathi, Gomlal Parasram Yadav (57), resident of Govindgarh, Uppalwadi, Avesh Jaldhar Lokhande (43), resident of Vishwa Bharati Nagar and Vasant Dada Devgirikar (60).
The special squad had received information that online gambling was being played at Raj Lottery Center located in Bhilgaon complex of Kamathi Road. Rajesh Nandanwar, resident of Manewada, runs this gambling house. the police raided the lottery center. The above accused were found playing gambling games named Lucky 7 and Double Chance on a computer monitor.
Police seized goods worth Rs 1.45 lakh including Rs 18,500 cash, 3 LCD monitors, CPU, printer and 7 mobile phones from the accused. Sources claim that Kapilnagar police was aware of this. Gambling business was being carried out under the patronage of some employees. the special squad itself carried out the action. A case was registered against the accused at Kapil Nagar police station under the Prohibition of Gambling Act.
