The Tehsil police have commenced legal actions to obtain custody of Ritika Maloo, the accused involved in the Ram Jhula accident, through a court-issued order. Utilizing non-bailable charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, the police are now seeking court permission to revoke her previous bail which was granted under bailable provisions, and to arrest her once again.
The Tehsil police have filed a petition before the magistrate court, requesting permission to take Maloo into custody. Reports indicate that the defence counsel submitted a response on Wednesday, accompanied by a petition to oppose the police’s re-arrest application. The magistrate court is slated to hear arguments from both parties on Thursday after the police file their statement. Moreover, on the same day, the police will challenge Ritika’s anticipatory bail plea before the session court. In their affidavit opposing Ritika’s anticipatory bail, the police will argue for the necessity of her custodial interrogation.
