About 150 people were admitted to hospitals, suspected to be because of food poisoning. The incident of food poisoning occurred in Majri village of Chandrapur district after they consumed the food after religious rituals performed on Saturday.
After the ‘Puja’ (religious rituals), the meal was organized in the village on Saturday evening. Those who consumed the food started feeling uncomfortable in the night. About 100 people approached hospitals immediately. The number of those suffering from suspected food poisoning is increasing. The number of patients in the hospitals in Bhadrawati and Warora has increased to 150. The patients are reported to be stable.
Permission from Food and Drug Administration is mandatory for organising a public meal. According to FDA authorities, no such permission was sought. Enquiry into the incident is in progress. Details will be revealed after the enquiry and laboratory tests.
