The Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti has the ‘Bhendwal Ghat Mandani’ unscientific and threatened to move the court if political predictions are made.
The ‘Ghat Mandani’ is a tradition followed in Bhendwal village in Buldana district on the Akdhay Tritiya Day. Based on the rituals predictions of crop pattern, monsoon, stability or otherwise in the state are made. The tradition is followed for about 350 years.
Andhyashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti announced that a complaint with the Election Commission will be lodged if any political predictions are made as the Model Code of Conduct is in force. Three phases of the parliamentary elections have been completed and the code of conduct will be enforced till June 1.
The rituals are performed on Akshay Tritiya and the predictions are made the next day based on changes in the items placed in the ‘Ghat Mandani’.
Buldana District Convenor Abahysinh Marode of the Samiti told the media about the announcement of the committee.
