Nagpur – 8 out of 12 for Mahayuti
The initial trends in Maharashtra Assembly elections indicate that Bharatiya Janata Party on its own is likely to gain in all the regions. BJP-led Mahayuti has taken lead right since the counting of votes began at 8 am on Saturday. All eyes were pinned on 62 seats of Vidarbha region, which was considered a game changer. BJP-Mahayuti has taken a lead in 50 constituencies within two hours of counting. Maha-Vikas Aghadi was far behind with lead in 12 constituencies.
Marathwada was another region, where Maratha factor was a key factor. BJP-led Mahayuti has taken lead in this region also and surging ahead in 34 constituencies as against eight by MVA.
Mumbai which was a bastion of Shiv Sena has favoured the Mahayuti with lead in 18 constituencies. MV leads in 12.
BJP-Mahayuti leads in about 199 constituencies in Maharashtra, which is much more than the required number of 145 for a simple majority. MVA is struggling at 96.
