The long-awaited completion of the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Expressway is nearing its final stages. The last segment of the expressway, stretching 76 kilometers from Igatpuri to Amane (Thane), is set to open for traffic by the end of August.
Anilkumar Gaikwad, Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), provided an update on the project. “The work on the Igatpuri-Amane stretch is about 97% complete. Only the viaduct over Kasara Ghat remains. This viaduct, at 52 meters high, is particularly challenging to build, which has caused some delays. We plan to open one lane of the viaduct by mid-August and the second by the end of August,” Gaikwad stated.
