In a remarkable achievement for Nagpur, three students have clinched the top positions in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), the results of which were announced on Tuesday. Ved Shende, Subhan Sengupta, and Krishnamurthy Shivan have all achieved a perfect score of 720 out of 720, bringing honor to the city on a national scale. This marks the first time in the city’s history that three students have attained such prestigious recognition.
The NEET competitive exam was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 5. Nearly 24 lakh students appeared for the examinations from all over the country and 89 of these students have obtained AIR-1 rank. Around 19 thou- sand students from Nagpur city took the exam and 500 are believed to have achieved good results.
Out of syllabus questions Subjects related to Biology like Botany, Zoology, Chem- istry and Physics are impor- tant subjects that are essen- tial for this exam. Dr. Anita, a guide for medical curriculum at Wankhede Madam’s Academy while talking to Lokmat Times said, NTA had omitted some sections from this year’s syllabus still, 2 questions were asked from this excluded area in the exam. An objection was also raised with NTA in this re- gard but it was not taken into account. Therefore, during the examination, the stu- dents found the paper of Physics and Chemistry dif- ficult.
Sameer Phale from Dr. Phale’s Classes criticized NTA for lowering the standard of NEET exam. “As many as 89 students have AIR 1. Even a score as high as 719 marks will not fetch a seat in Delhi AIIMS,” he said while explaining how difficult it would be
To secure admissions in government colleges.
