Manaswini Foundation, a vibrant NGO based in Nagpur, organized a “Health Awareness Workshop” at Bharat Vidyalaya, Ram Nagar, Nagpur. More than 100 students benefited from the workshop. Dr. Khushbu Agrawal, MDS Orthodontist and Owner of Niramay Orthodontic and Multispeciality Dental Clinic, Nagpur, educated children about proper oral hygiene and issues such as cavities, gum disease, and bad breath. Early intervention helps in preventing serious issues in the future.

Oral health is closely linked to overall health. Poor oral hygiene can lead to infections that may spread to other parts of the body. Good oral health contributes to a child’s self-esteem and confidence. A healthy smile can positively impact their social interactions and self-image. Dental pain and discomfort can distract children from their studies, affecting their academic performance. Preventive care ensures they can focus on their education without such hindrances. Students won many prizes by participating in health-related question-and-answer sessions.
Apart from oral health, menstrual health education is also essential. Many young girls lack proper knowledge about menstrual health. Such workshops can provide vital information about menstruation, helping to dispel myths and reduce stigma.
Access to sanitary products is necessary. Providing sanitary pads ensures that girls who cannot afford them can maintain proper hygiene, preventing infections and other health issues. Lack of access to sanitary products often leads to girls missing school during their periods. By providing these essentials, the workshop helps improve their attendance and educational continuity. Educating girls about menstrual health and providing them with necessary products can empower them, boosting their confidence and helping them manage their periods with dignity.
Overall, the workshop aims to improve the health and well-being of the students, ensuring they grow up healthy and informed. By addressing these basic needs, the workshop supports better educational outcomes by minimizing health-related absenteeism and distractions. Such workshops raise awareness in the broader community about the importance of oral health and menstrual hygiene, encouraging more supportive and informed attitudes. They impact the lives of the students, contributing to their physical health, educational success, and overall well-being. Janis Sama, Neelam Bowade, and school officials were present at the event.
