In a recent development, junior colleges may face stringent action for allegedly admitting students from tuition classes under dubious circumstances. Deputy Director of Education, Ulhas Narad, has issued a stern directive mandating 75 percent biometric attendance for 11th and 12th-grade students. Failure to comply could result in the department rescinding the school’s recognition.
The directive, issued on Monday, aims to curb the reported practice of junior colleges admitting students improperly associated with tuition classes. Narad emphasized that institutions found operating without ensuring student attendance face imminent recognition cancellation. Additionally, students consistently absent may be barred from appearing in examinations.
To enforce compliance, the Education Department has instructed secondary education officers from zilla parishads to conduct bi-monthly inspections of higher secondary schools and junior colleges. This move underscores efforts to uphold attendance standards and maintain integrity in educational practices.
