An accused extorted 18 lakhs from a teacher and his relatives under the pretense of securing them jobs in the health department. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Hudkeshwar police station
Nandkishore Revatkar has filed a complaint in this case. He was introduced to Deepak Shravan Shandre in January 2020, who claimed that there were two vacancies each in the health departments of Nagpur and Gondia, and the job could be arranged for Rs. 10 lakhs. He also stated that an advance payment of Rs. 5 lakhs would be necessary.
Nandkishore believed him and discussed securing jobs for his relatives with Deepak. The accused took Rs. 18 lakhs, promising to provide them with interview letters within 15 days. However, he failed to deliver any such letters. When Nandkishore inquired further, he discovered that there were no vacancies in the health department and no advertisements had been issued.
He asked the accused to return the money, but the accused evaded by citing the reason of COVID-19. On February 28, 2023, he gave a check to Nandkishore, but it did not clear. Since then, he has been absconding. Nandkishore lodged a complaint at Hudkeshwar police station, where the police have registered a case of cheating against the accused, and a search is underway.
