Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees will launch an indefinite strike from August 9. Thirteen unions of the employees have agreed to join the proposed strike. The strike is being staged in support of their demands of salary equivalent to the State Government employees, release of pending dearness allowance, annual increment in salary, and hike of Rs 5,000 in the basic salary.
The employees had staged a 54-day strike in 2021 which had brought the bus traffic to a grinding halt. The State Government had accepted some of their demands. However, the accepted demands were not fulfilled compelling the employees to stage the strike again.
The bus transport in the state is likely to be severely affected by the proposed strike.
