A 29-year-old woman was rescued after falling into a 100-foot-deep gorge while taking a selfie in Maharashtra’s Satara district, police reported. The incident occurred near the Thoseghar waterfalls in Borne Ghat. The woman, who had traveled from Pune with friends, was safely extricated from the gorge by a Home Guard and fellow mountaineers. The rescue was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.
The woman was transported to a hospital, where her condition is now reported to be stable.
This incident follows a similar tragedy involving a 26-year-old Instagram influencer who died after falling into a gorge at Kumbhe waterfall in Raigad. Aanvi Kamdar had been visiting the waterfall with friends on July 16 when she slipped while filming a video.
In response to these events, local authorities are urging the public to prioritize safety and avoid risky behaviors while enjoying natural attractions.
