Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to ensure that the immersion of Ganesh and Durga idols concludes by midnight. This directive comes following a meeting convened for the first time to address issues related to Ganesh and Durga festivals, responding to citizen concerns.
The unprecedented pre-festival meeting, led by Fadnavis, was attended by key officials including Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravinder Kumar Singal, Additional Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation Ajay Chawre, and MLC Dr. Parinay Fuke. The meeting also saw participation from BJP South West constituency President Ritesh Gawande and Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State General Secretary Shivani Dani, among others.
Fadnavis emphasized that the immersion process should be completed within two days rather than extending into the early hours of the morning. He instructed officials to develop a timetable for mandals to ensure all immersions are concluded by midnight.
The meeting addressed several issues, including extending permissions from the Charity Commissioner from one to five years, reducing advance payments to the State Electricity Board, and improving traffic management.
Ritesh Gawande praised the meeting’s outcomes, stating that the measures discussed would enhance safety and convenience for citizens. The decisions made are expected to positively impact other areas as well.
Fadnavis also engaged with office-bearers of 145 Ganapati and Durga Devi Mandals in South West Nagpur during the session.
