The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has transferred the investigation of the Ram Jhula accident case, involving Ritika alias Rittu Malu, to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID). The transfer was ordered on Friday, following dissatisfaction expressed by the victims’ families over the initial probe conducted by the Tehsil Police.
The case pertains to a tragic incident that occurred in late February, when Ritika Malu, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, crashed her Mercedes-Benz (MH-49-AS-6111) into a motorcycle on Ram Jhula. The collision resulted in the deaths of Mohammad Hussain Ghulam Mustafa (34) and Mohammed Aatif Ziya (32), who were riding the bike. Malu was returning home to Wardhaman Nagar from the CP Club, accompanied by her friend, Madhuri Sarda, when the accident occurred.
Despite the severity of the incident, Malu was granted bail the following day, raising concerns among the victims’ families. Their dissatisfaction with the police investigation prompted them to call for a more thorough probe by the CID, which has now been granted by the High Court. The CID is expected to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
